Cafe Rider is a hidden gem that takes hidden gem to a whole new level. It’s been in Dubai for over two years (maybe three) and you may have even driven past it a number of times without ever having noticed it at all.
Even if you know what you’re looking for, you still might miss the discreet signboard, if it weren’t for the few classic cars and motorbikes at the entrance. But this is Al Quoz after all, and with body shop after body shop, that’s a pretty standard sight.
This cafe was one of the first to redefine the way Dubai does coffee. They were here shortly after Tom and Serg but long before the likes of The Espresso Lab, Stomping Grounds and Nostalgia.
The cafe is in a converted warehouse – there’s a small motorcycle repair shop next to the entrance, motorcycles dotted around, high ceilings, tables where you can sit and chat or bring your laptop to work, leather sofas where you can sip coffee and observe, plus a foosball table and a kiddie play area.
Verdict: If you like motorcycles and love coffee, you’re in luck. Top-class baristas, delicious coffee, funky industrial vibe.
Note to self: Bring the laptop, enjoy the free wi-fi and kick back for a while.
